I run a group of several thousand investors in Subtle Asian Real Estate, feel free to join us there for community and free education and our podcast!. A while back, I realized most immigrants and their children tend not to create partnerships and have trouble building trust. One of the biggest determinants of net worth is whether or not a household owns real estate or has a retirement account, both of which real estate investing can solve.
We do conferences now and field trips to explore new cities. Join us if anything like that interests you.
I also buy commercial real estate and apartments at Subtle Asset Management, but am always looking for people to partner with us. I’m largely looking to tackle workforce and affordable housing projects in the Midwest and South. We’ve invested in 3000+ multifamily units and several industrial ones as LPs and manage 168 doors ourselves.

While I’ve been a lifelong fan of value investing, it wasn’t until I was finishing up grad school at Columbia University that I could throw my weight behind analyzing and tracking down my first property. The light bulb really went off when I realized that for the first time, I was getting paid to live in a property that didn’t involve me taking care of someone else’s dog.
Luckily, studying machine learning is really helpful for crunching numbers and my experience at Apple + Microsoft on their design engineering teams also gave me an eye for aesthetics and the aptitude to shower that the traditional engineer likes to ignore. The connections I’ve built in Silicon Valley and the Ivy League have been quite useful for raising funds, but I’m largely looking to help others build wealth.
