Trees and How They Can Ruin Your Investment
Something I never thought about starting out as an investor. I just cut one down today myself to save some money, but they can end up becoming a surprising expense.
Things to watch out for
Keep them away from the building. Roots can mess up your plumbing or even knock down a wall into your basement/foundation. They also do this thing where they can fall on buildings
Trees can get hollowed out. It's a liability that could end up damaging property not only because it gets toppled, but branches keep falling and brushing against a roof. This drastically reduces the life span.
When looking at a property down in Phoenix with Chris Tao, apparently the palm trees were a source for birds to rain down poop and suck up the water bill, which if you have enough of can could hit your bottom line in utility bills and maintenance fees.
What to do if you have a problematic tree
I actually got my neighbor to cut mine down in exchange for using it as firewood!
